Pixels of Fury: Assess the Competition

This year, AIGA celebrates 100 years of celebrating design. In honor of AIGA’s commitment to the industry and our profession, we have combined our annual members’ party with our chapter’s own celebration for, quite literally, the AIGA New Orleans Centennial Celebration and Members’ Party on Tuesday, January 28 at the EIFFEL SOCIETY on St. Charles.

Sponsored by Shutterstock, we have been selected to host the Shutterstock Pixels of Fury, a live design competitionThe competition will comprise of 4 designers, duking it out over Creative Cloud with Shutterstock’s finest assets–its stock photos.

So, just who is the competition?

The Brave and Battle-Hungry

Liz Maute CookeLiz Maute Cooke is a designer specializing in hand-lettering and stationery. Hailing from the heartland of Oklahoma, now that she’s been imported to New Orleans, she probably couldn’t live anywhere else. Liz works full time as an in-house designer at GCR Inc. and runs Lionheart Prints, her line of custom stationery, greeting cards and gifts. She is looking forward to traveling to Italy this summer where she will study typography in a two-week masters workshop program through the School of Visual Art in New York. She’s really freakin’ excited about that.

Chet OverallChet Overall is a 27 yr old freelance graphic designer/photographer based out of New Orleans. Originally hailing from Tennessee, he graduated from MTSU with a BFA in Graphic Design – then moved down to the big easy in January of 2010. When Chet isn’t busy rocking with the Lagniappe Brass Band, he is busy designing or photographing.

Designer, blogger, and newly married Ali Becnel Solino works for Peter A. Mayer Advertising crafting with beauty and brains. A proud lover of New Orleans, Ali also creates specialty items for sale in her Etsy shop.
