In our first edition of our monthly Member Spotlight, we’d reached out to newly renewed member Yiwen Lu, recent recipient of Adobe’s Muse Site of the Day award, and asked her to answer some select and important questions about her work, her life, and, of course, her favorite typeface.
Member Spotlight is our way of celebrating our members and their amazing work. How long have you been a member and what’s the most rewarding thing about being a part of the chapter?
I first joined the AIGA San Francisco chapter in 2006 and now I have rejoined the New Orleans chapter. The most rewarding thing about being a part of the chapter is to receive the design event news as well the opportunity to sign up to workshops and events before they are open to the public. I also enjoy the opportunities in attending the events to meet with people.
What do you currently do and where do you work?
I am a senior designer in Test Monki in The Woodlands, Texas. I also do freelance works for various companies in Louisiana, California and Germany.
Now that we know what you currently do, what is your dream non-design job?
I have never thought about doing anything that’s not design or art related.
What’s your biggest design-related pet peeve?
Widows and orphans.
What’s a favorite resource or tool you’d be willing to share?

What’s your proudest accomplishment?
My website was featured as Adobe Muse “Site of the Day” in July 2015
If you were a Pantone color, which would it be?
PMS 213 (Magenta).
What is your favorite typeface?
Trade Gothic.
If there is karaoke at the next office party, what song will you be singing?
A Taiwanese pop song. :)
What’s your favorite snoball or poboy selection?
