Graphic Designers of New Orleans! Would you like an opportunity to creatively and effectively give back to your community?
Join Propeller and AIGA New Orleans this November 11th for THANKS+GIVING, a Design for Good Cocktail Social.
Learn about Propeller’s Pro Bono Professional Network and AIGA’s Design for Good initiative, celebrate the professionals whose work has transformed emerging enterprises and nonprofits, and enjoy craft cocktails by Cane and Table, temperance sodas by Swamp Pop, light hors d'oeuvres, a heroically themed photobooth, and prize giveaways for new enrollees.
In the season of THANKS+GIVING, Propeller and AIGA New Orleans are hosting a Design for Good cocktail social on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Propeller Incubator.
Come and learn how your skills can support and transform emerging enterprises and nonprofits. Network with brilliant creatives and enjoy craft cocktails by Cane and Table, and learn about how design for good can better your community as a whole.
Propeller is a local non-profit with the mission of tackling New Orleans' toughest challenges by supporting innovative entrepreneurs. Each year, Propeller incubates 12-15 for-profit and nonprofit ventures. This year, we're teaming up with them to present members with the opportunity to participate in and learn about Design for Good, aligning our chapter's Design for Good initiative with local needs.
How Do I Get Involved and How Does It Work?
Attendees of THANKS + GIVING will learn about Propeller's Pro Bono Network, be offered an opportunity to participate and lend your design or development skills to benefit a select group of new, socially responsible ventures in New Orleans. Members of Propeller's Pro Bono Network are typically asked to commit 10-15 hours of hands-on support over the course of Propeller's 10-month Accelerator Program. You will be contacted if a project matches your skills, but there is no obligation to participate. For full disclosure, we must inform you that Propeller's Accelerator program includes both for-profit and nonprofit entities. AIGA's Design for Good initiative aims to inform designers of best practices and merits for participating pro bono engagements. We at AIGA New Orleans are committed to advising designers against spec work, crowdsourcing, and any activity which unfairly capitalizes on unpaid or low-pay designer labor. Propeller is open to tailoring match ups to specific requests regarding entity type (for-profit/nonprofit) or venture mission.
