Early AIGA Design Conference attendees joined AIGA New Orleans and the NOLA Dribbble Group for a mixer & lecture presented by Dribbble and Mac Papers at the Little Gem Saloon. Around 200 guests took part in a typography activity, savored a specialty bourbon cocktail called “The Page-Maker’s Brambbble” and the down-home cuisine of Food4daSoul, perused mindblowing paper samples and extras from the likes of Neenah, and enjoyed Nikki Villagomez’s popular talk, “How Culture Affects Typography,” tailored to New Orleans. Guests also learned exactly what kind of a nerd names her dog after a designer and her kid after a font.
Thanks are due to our sponsors, especially to Dribbble’s Alison Harshbarger and Mac Papers’ Louie Prechter for making the trip out; to Metropolitan Ice Division for furnishing artisanal ice to keep our cocktails cool but never watered down; to Action Press for keeping the ink flowing; to InVision, Creative Market, Logopond, and Shopify for sweet goodies; to our volunteers Dianne Waller, Lauren Smith, Rémi Sorbet, and Seth Fountain; to our local Dribbble group organizer, Dionne Grayson; and to Nikki Villagomez for making the trip down and treating us to such a stellar presentation.
Be sure to follow the New Orleans Dribbble group using hashtag #noladribbble and on Facebook to stay in the loop on more upcoming meetups!
