A few weeks ago, Mac Papers hosted their annual regional Lunch & Learn over a pair of days–at Walk-On’s on Poydras (September 25) and Juban’s in Baton Rouge (September 24). This informational session over a light lunch put the attending designers ahead of the curve in the hottest paper and print knowledge.
Sappi Fine Paper – Direct Mail
Guest representatives from paper manufacturers conversed with attendees in small groups, introducing new products and resources, answering questions, and supplying beaucoup samples. Sappi Fine Paper revealed “Act Now: A better response to direct mail” campaign to improve direct mail effectiveness, plus the paper lines Opus, McCoy, and the impressive economy paper, Flo. Sappi also furnished “Imagination”, a set of premium greeting cards featuring “The Sappi Standard 5: Special Effects” best-of-the-best printing and finishing techniques. Sappi sample books are available through sappi.com.
Neenah Paper’s “Feel Think Do”
Neenah Paper showed off “Feel Think Do”, a treatise on the tactile power of paper, as well as swatch books for the Design Collection and papers designed for digital printers. This digital swatch book, available exclusively through merchants such as Mac Papers, helpfully includes real samples demonstrating how several major digital printers perform on the different stocks. If you like what you see from a particular printer model, Mac Papers can provide referrals for where to locally source a print shop with that equipment. Most other Neenah swatch books are available through Neenahpaper.com. (Just select your product from the “Paper & Products” dropdown menu, then choose “Order Printed Materials.”)
We also learned about popular services made to meet the production demands and budget restraints of individual designers, such as the Neenah CabinetTM free app, in which designers can view all of Neenah’s swatch books on their preferred device. Most impressively, Neenah now offers personal proofs, furnishing a professional proof of your art, on your stock selection, for just a buck.
Mac Papers’ Lunch and Learn
Mac Papers’ Lunch & Learn continues to be an unmissable opportunity for print designers to get informed about offerings and options, securing the confidence to craft original and striking printed matter. (Be sure that you’re on the AIGA New Orleans newsletter list so you get the first word about it next year.) With all these resources at the ready to help you level up what you’re able to present to your clients, it’s a great time to start a relationship with your local paper authority. Feel free to direct questions and swatchbook requests to Mac Papers, or go check out their Mini-Mac storefront in Harahan.
