On May 9, AIGA NOLA conducted a successful luncheon at Marks Paper, discussing how, based on our recent interviews and past experience, to best prepare your freelance design business/ small design studio for the upcoming hurricane season. Special provisions have been made to extend the memberships of all AIGA members affected by the hurricane to March 31, 2006. If you log into your online profile at http://www.aiga.org/profile you will see that theses changes have been made.

If there is an AIGA chapter in the city you are in, do not hesitate to contact them. To find out if there is a chapter near you, go to the AIGA national home page and select from the drop down menu, or visit the  chapter map.

Members can post their portfolios containing samples of their work, a personal statement, resume and contact details. You may also update your Design Jobs account summary so that you are automatically notified when positions are posted that fit your criteria.

You can also post your needs on the Displaced Designers web site and look up others by location who have offered housing, work, supplies, etc.
The AIGA New Orleans Job Board is back up listing available, local jobs.
AIGA New Orleans has been trying to contact local vendors to determine who is back in business. http://www.neworleans.aiga.org/sponsors/chapter_sponsors_1.  We have listed contact information for printers, paper houses, photographers, etc.

New Orleans Design Firm and AIGA member, Creative Zumo, offers 3 t-shirt and bumper sticker designs for sale to raise money for New Orleans non-profits including AIGA New Orleans Chapter. Check neworleans.aiga.org/zumo for more information.

AIGA New Orleans conducted 5 professional Design Aid events and 4 student events at which we disbursed donated design supplies collected from AIGA chapters along the east  coast and delivered by Project Mentor’s Mbulance.
